Hello all,
A happy new year to everyone, and what a year it is shaping up to be. With Spain’s politics still seeming paralysed, Greece looking poised for a fresh struggle over reform demands, Poland shifting ever-further away from European democracy, a reinvigorated refugee debate in Germany and the EU referendum campaigns beginning to get under way, there’s a lot to talk about and a lot that I’ve in all honestly missed.
Well, I haven’t missed it exactly, I have been following developments quite closely, but I haven’t spoken about them as yet. So with that in mind, I’m here to inform you about what the plan is:
Next week I intend to publish a series of articles (memorandums most likely) which more or less briefly cover the developments over the past few weeks in Europe, but more specifically, in Spain, Poland, Britain and perhaps Germany as well. There will also be the weekly State of the Union update coming out on Monday and perhaps a comment article as well if anything particularly interesting comes up in the next week. After all, as I recently have been considering, the world isn’t made to be just looked at, it’s made to be spoken and written about.
After next week, we will be returning to normal broadcasting; 2 articles on Monday, (State of the Union + a more developed news article), a Comment article on Wednesday and a News article on Friday. Scattered throughout the weeks and months coming up to the referendum (which looks as if it’ll be in the summer now) will be my campaign reports on talks, debates, and so on that I’ve been to. There may also be an expansion on the archives if there’s any more aspects of the EU that I think need to be explained (one about how the justice system and EU laws works might be on the cards).
In other news, there have a been a whole wave of books that I have been kindly given over Christmas that all look fascinating; I recently started Yanis Varoufakis’ The Global Minotaur which is already shaping up to be one of the most interesting reads I’ve had in a while.
Beyond that, Student life is getting started up again and after exams finish this week there’ll no doubt be a whole host of interesting talks, lectures, articles and seminars coming up which may well be discussed on this site.
Over all, a busy year ahead. I look forward to it because it looks like an absolutely fascinating one. Happy New Year to all, I hope you join it with me on the HP.
